The Borakalalo Gathering!

1. What to Take

Because you spend 2 nights in the park, the basic camping gear is required. eg. tents, sleeping materials, tables, chairs, food etc..
Food - A campfire is made both nights and the norm is braai's but you can bring your own gas bottle to cook privately if you so wish. No fires, other than the main campfire, are allowed because of the threat of fire spreading into the bush, especially in winter.
Clothing - You can bring any clothing you want. All FOPS requires from you during the actual work on Saturday morning is a FOPS shirt (which can purchased in camp). We suggest that you wear long trousers, as there are many unwelcome guests that enjoy warm areas while you work in the bush. Wear old shoes for the work, as some of the working conditions (eg. Waxing hides) end up being pretty messy.
Other - If you can, bring a packet of fire-wood to the work-party. You need a chair and any beverage you prefer. Binoculars, Camera etc.
2. Agenda Arrive Friday afternoon. Friday night is normally just a relaxing night at the campfire.
Saturday morning - Awake early, Briefing around the campfire about the morning's required work. All groups make their way to the their relevant work areas.
Saturday afternoon & night - Relax and enjoy the reserve after a hard morning's work. The rest of the weekend is up to you.
Sunday - Everyone is required to have left camp by 14h00pm
3. Park Rules Borakalalo - You are required to sign in at the main gate when you arrive. Please arrive within the gate times below, as you will not be able to enter the park after the gate has closed.
4. Camp Rules

Work parties are by invitation only this is to keep the group working Harmoniously You may not just attend a workparty.
Non Fops members may attend 3  work parties before having to join Fops, They must contact the contact person or if going with FoPS friends they must do the contacting.
At least one vehicle (of a group) parked in the park must have a magnetic sticker on it indicating that it is an official work party. Or the park staff, normally HO's during a week end, are obliged to investigate.
Workparty members should attend one workparty in each of the parks per year. Encouraging cross-pollination of ideas and preventing polarization as has happened in the past.
Everybody must have an
indemnity form on file.
